One Off Encounters in practice.
Say one-off before the conversation becomes a negotiation
The clearest place for this preference is the profile or opening exchange. It allows someone seeking continuity to move on before expectations diverge.
One-off describes the expected duration, not the amount of conversation required beforehand. People can still differ in how quickly they want to make a plan.
Keep logistics useful and proportionate
Broad area, date range and time window are usually enough to establish whether a meeting is feasible.
An exact location is not necessary during public discovery. It can be decided privately after both adults confirm that the basic fit is real.
Avoid language that promises an unknown future
Phrases such as “see what happens” can imply openness to continuation even when that is not intended. Direct wording is kinder and more efficient.
A one-off plan can still be warm, selective and personal; it simply avoids presenting recurrence as an expectation.
